Art in The Park
Art in the Park 11th of August 2018 Diversity house participated in Sittingbourne’s Art in the Park at Milton Creek which is held annually. The weather was lovely, and the park was filled with people. Sittingbourne FM radio were present. Diversity House had its display set out which attracted a lot of people. 10th August – Summer Youth Club 2018
Summer Youth Club On the second week of the youth club, the children engaged in a WW1 lesson. We started off by questioning them about what they knew about the war. A few knew about how it begun and the period of it. Commemorative Walter Tull Awards
Commemorative Walter Tull Awards As part of a two-year participation, Year 5 pupils of St Michael’s school Church of England carried out a campaign for Walter Tull to receive his medal as part of the ‘No Barriers’ campaign. In remembrance of him, they also wrote and acted out a play on Walter Tull and received a medal for this from the Big Ideas company through the ‘Tull 100- Football Remembers’ campaign. Volunteer Training with Diversity House
For the past four weeks, Diversity House has been delivering volunteering training. People from different ethnicities and backgrounds were part of it including myself. Over the past four sessions, the participants gained confidence to share past voluntary roles personal experiences, what made them to enrol onto the training and what they hoped to achieve at the end of it. In the first session we discussed what volunteering is, the cultural challenges, barriers to volunteering and how to overcome them.
