Diversity House on SFM Radio: Empowering Communities and Celebrating International Women’s Day 2026

Dr Zina Lehef, founder of Diversity House, recently joined SFM Radio to share exciting updates about the organisation’s upcoming events and the wide range of support services available to the local community. During the interview, she spoke passionately about the charity’s continued growth, its expanding programme of activities, and its unwavering commitment to supporting individuals and families across Swale and the surrounding areas.

With a major International Women’s Day event on the horizon and ongoing projects already transforming lives, it is clear that Diversity House continues to play a central role in strengthening community resilience and wellbeing.

International Women’s Day – 9 March 2026

The flagship event takes place on Monday 9 March 2026, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, at the beautiful Hempstead House Hotel and Spa in Kent. This year’s theme is “Give to Gain” – a powerful message highlighting how generosity, collaboration and community engagement can create meaningful, lasting impact.

The event will feature an impressive line-up of keynote speakers, including:

  • Josephine McCartney, CEO of The Childhood Trust, addressing child poverty in London

  • Mary Lois, Deputy Cabinet Member for Community

  • Dr Anki France, from Canterbury Christ Church University

  • Victoria Wallace, Deputy Lieutenant representing the Lord-Lieutenant of Kent

  • Karen Watson, Mayor of Swale

Attendees will include representatives from schools, local businesses, charities and community organisations. The day promises to be interactive, informative and inspiring, with speakers sharing how they embody the principle of “Give to Gain” in their professional and personal lives.

The event is free to attend and open to the public, but registration is essential as places are limited.

Swale Mums Peer Support Circles

Another key initiative highlighted during the interview is the Swale Mums Peer Support Circles, launched in October 2025. This project supports expectant mothers and new mums with babies up to two years old.

The sessions provide a safe, welcoming space where mums can:

  • Share experiences openly

  • Build supportive friendships

  • Learn practical wellbeing strategies

  • Receive guidance from guest professionals such as health visitors, nurses and wellbeing coaches

Drop-in support is available daily at Diversity House, with structured group sessions typically held on Tuesdays from 11:00am to 12:30pm. Additional sessions are also delivered at Faversham Community Centre, with flexible scheduling shaped around mums’ availability.

Ongoing Community Support and Wellbeing Activities

Diversity House runs a packed weekly timetable designed to support mental health, wellbeing and practical life skills. Regular activities include:

Beyond workshops and classes, Diversity House provides vital frontline support.
