International Women’s Day 2024 at Diversity House

Our International Women’s Day 2204 Event was a resounding success, bringing together delegates, speakers, and members of the public to celebrate and advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment. Held on Friday, 8th March 2024, at ISP House in Sittingbourne, Kent, the event was organised by our team at Diversity House, a charitable organisation dedicated to addressing social inequalities and promoting integration, inclusion, and community cohesion.

The Event

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Mrs. Christine Locke, the CEO of Diversity House, who highlighted the organisation’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion. The agenda was packed with insightful talks from esteemed speakers, including Councillor Mrs. Sarah Stephen, Jemma Fairclough-Haynes, Kaz Macklin, and others, who shared their expertise and experiences on various topics related to women’s rights, empowerment, and gender equality.

Throughout the day, attendees were encouraged to actively participate in discussions, challenge stereotypes, and broaden their perceptions. The theme of “Inspire Inclusion” resonated throughout the event, emphasising the collective responsibility of individuals to create a gender-equal world through their actions and mindset.

The event provided ample opportunities for networking and reflection, with breaks for tea, coffee, and a delicious lunch spread. Attendees were encouraged to share their feedback through evaluation forms, ensuring that their thoughts on the issues covered and the speakers’ presentations were heard and valued.

Diversity House’s commitment to security and accessibility was evident, with strict adherence to security regulations and provisions for Wi-Fi access. The organisation’s support for the United Nations Global Compact underscored its dedication to promoting sustainable and socially responsible policies.

The diverse lineup of speakers, including business leaders, community activists, and educators, showcased the breadth of talent and expertise within the community. From inspirational stories of resilience to practical insights into promoting diversity in the workplace, each speaker contributed to a rich tapestry of ideas and perspectives.

Special recognition was given to male allies for their contributions to the empowerment of women and girls in Swale, highlighting the importance of collective action in advancing gender equality. Additionally, the event paid tribute to the individuals and organisations that have championed diversity and inclusion in the community.

As the event drew to a close, Mrs. Rosemary Dymond DL, the Patron of Diversity House, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees for their participation and support. Guests were invited to take a guided tour of Diversity House, further deepening their understanding of the organisation’s work and mission.
