The SWAG team were inundated with enquiries from women seeking jobs and information on how to improve their prospects at the Job Fair organised by Sittingbourne Job Centre in September. The women were enquiring about the type of support they could receive to help them enter the job market after sometimes long periods of unemployment.

After one to one sessions were carried out by the SWAG team with the individual women to assess their skills levels or any gaps in knowledge or training, the women were recommended onto an eight-week course providing training in CV writing, interview techniques, ICT and social media techniques, presentation skills and any other area identified from the assessment.

In discussions about the programme, many of the women expressed interest to start the course but pointed out that they would also benefit from getting hands on work experience which Diversity House already provides through its volunteering and work experience programme. Diversity House also sign posts and coaches women onto work experience programmes amongst other organisations and has successfully placed and sought jobs for many women who’ve completed the eight-week module.
