What is the EKAHP?

The East Kent African Health Project is a programme of HIV and sexual health prevention activities targeted at African communities in East Kent.

The project is a partnership between African led organisations in East Kent and is funded by Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust (PCT).

The project works in the community with individuals, groups and organisations from African communities to:

  • increase knowledge and awareness of HIV and STIs,

  • increase access to testing and treatment services,

  • challenge stigma and discrimination and empower Africans to access appropriate services.

  • Support those who are living with HIV to manage their illness and live positive productive lives.

Our activities include:

  • Provision of information and resources

  • Support groups for those living with HIV

  • Provision of free condoms,

  • Community outreach,

  • Skills giving workshops,

  • Training

  • Campaigns and events.
